LATEST RESEARCH UPDATE: A recent meta-analysis published in the Journal of the American Heart Association found that coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) supplementation ameliorated statin associated muscle symptoms (SAMs) such as muscle pain, muscle weakness, muscle cramps, and muscle tiredness. This meta-analysis included 12 randomized controlled trials of intervention ranging from 1-3 months, with a total of 575 participants. Compared to placebo, CoQ10 ameliorated muscle pain, muscle weakness, muscle cramps, and muscle tiredness. The authors concluded that CoQ10 supplementation may be a complementary approach to statin-induced myopathy. For more information check out the full study.
